Shirly died suddenly on 25 November 2007. After many battles with poor health which she won, her heart failed following a relatively minor operation. You can read an obituary for her on the Guardian newspaper HERE

On 28th January 2009 Shirly's last book "OMEGA 3 Find it, Cook It, Love it!" was launched at the hugely significant Seafood and Health Conference at Fish Monger's Hall in London.

It has been published posthumously by her daughters, who wanted to pay tribute to their mothers’ wishes and bring out the cookery book she had been working on the year before she died.

Shirly was a woman with many talents and a passion for life. She was warm and colourful and generous to a fault with her love and her time. Her family, many friends and the sea food industry will miss her but we have great memories and her books to keep us going!
